OPERA, the Festival of Music Theatre, is a prestigious showcase of the best opera productions of Czech and Moravian ensembles, and newly also those from Slovakia. It has been held biennially since 1993 in Prague, mainly on stages of the National Theatre.
The festival originated with the aim to draw attention to the unique network of opera houses (10!), where many interesting productions are created every season.
It has regularly juxtaposed the level and direction of the participating ensembles, offered various approached to opera theatre, and introduced outstanding personalities of Czech opera sphere.

Festival is taking place with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic, the City of Prague and all participating theatres.

Honorary Festival Committee: Soňa Červená, Libuše Domanínská, Dagmar Pecková, Jan Klusák, Jiří Kout, Štefan Margita, Richard Novák, David Pountney.

14th Festival of Music Theatre Opera 2020 will take place in Januar - March 2020.
The program will be known by the end of the season 2018/2019.
